Marymount Hospice

www.stpatricksmarymount.ie

A specialist care centre based in Cork, providing palliative care for sufferers of life-threatening illnesses in Cork city and county. Staff and volunteers work tirelessly to ensure that the highest levels of care and support are made available to all patients, their family and friends. The centre offers a comprehensive and holistic approach to care aiming to improve the qulaity of life of patients whatever their age.

The latest development for Marymount is the relocation to a new facility at Ballinaspig More, Waterfall Road. This sees the upgrade of the current hospital, not only in literal size but also in the spectrum of care that can be offered. Construction has been steadily progressing over the last year with the hope of becoming fully operational in Summer 2010.  A vast undertaking, it will replace the existing facilities and increase the number of patients who can be cared for as in-patients and in respite care. Although a good deal of funding for this project is covered by The Health Service Executive  and a Bermuda based philanthropic organisation, there is still a huge need for the support of local fundrasing events.
