About
This is the first year for the Horse Rock Charity Triathlon and hopefully, all being well; it may continue to become an annual event. As a charity event, it very much relies on the good nature of friends, family, local businesses and willing volunteers and so far people have been more than generous.
What I am keen to promote with this event, is that it is not mutually exclusive to the athletes of this world. I want it to appeal to everyone as a local event that involves people who wouldn’t normally consider taking part in something like this either because of other commitments restricting their training or by being intimidated by the scale or competitiveness of such an event. More importantly, I want people to come out and enjoy themselves!
With the support of The Pink Elephant restaurant at the finish line, providing a reception for all competitors, supporters and volunteers, I hope to encourage as many of you to stay on and take part in the more standard Sunday afternoon activity of relaxing in the sun (hopefully!) sharing a pint with friends and family alike, congratulating yourself on your achievements!
On behalf of the two charities involved I would like to thank you all for participating and fundraising for them. Both charities do phenomenally selfless work that often goes unrecognised and un-applauded. Nightingales Children’s Project is run unaided by Romanian government support and shows just a window of the horrific conditions that children so close to home suffer daily. Marymount Hospice works tirelessly to provide the love and care not just to its patients but to the families and friends of those affected by cancer. Sadly, chances are we have all, or will be touched by cancer and through the work of people like this a vital network of care is provided.
I hope this website provides you with more information and if there is anything else you would like to know please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to seeing you out there on the day be it as a competitor, a volunteer or a supporter!
